The Embedded Web Interface (EWI) is the built-in advanced configuration and status page for your GigaSpire router. It allows you to view network information, check connected devices, adjust settings, and run diagnostics directly from a web browser.
1. Connect to Your GigaSpire
Before accessing the EWI, make sure your device (computer, tablet, or phone) is connected to your GigaSpire router’s network—either through Wi-Fi or by plugging into one of the router’s LAN (Ethernet) ports.
2. Open the EWI in a Browser
- Launch a web browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox are recommended).
-
In the address bar, type:
https://10.0.0.2
and press Enter. - The system uses a self-signed security certificate. This will prompt a warning from the web browser as the certificate is not signed by an authority recognized by the browser. It is safe to proceed to the private local site.
3. Log In
- Username:
admin(default unless changed) Password: The unique password printed on the identification label on your GigaSpire router (located on the bottom or behind a side panel, depending on your router model)
Note: Immediately after logging in to the EWI for the first time as the admin user, the EWI will prompt for a mandatory credentials change before continuing. You must supply at least a new password and cannot proceed without changing it from the default.
4. Explore the EWI
Once logged in, you can:
- View system status, including WAN connection details, LAN client device list, and Wi-Fi status.
- Run diagnostic tools such as Ping or Traceroute.
- Manage Wi-Fi settings including SSID, password, and security options.
- Modify security configurations such as firewall settings, port forwarding, and UPnP.
Important: The EWI contains advanced settings that can affect your internet service. If you are unsure about changing a setting, contact Avative Support before making modifications.
Troubleshooting Access Issues
- If the EWI doesn’t load, make sure you are connected directly to the GigaSpire router’s network (not through a separate Wi-Fi network or VPN).
- Check that you entered the address exactly as
10.0.0.2. - If you changed the gateway IP address and forgot it, you may need to reset the router to factory defaults (note: this will erase custom settings).
